The Craigslist personals email harvest season is over! [How to harvest email addresses on Craigslist personals]

A job I had recently was working with a guy that would buy harvested email contacts for singles looking on Craigslist. I would get paid $1.75 for every good email lead and $3.00 of every phone number I could produce. This is one of my highest earning adcopy producers. This one produced over 80,000 leads

Thank you for reading my post… before you start to read my post, a reader from my last creative dating post commented to me – “it might help to point out that I make a living as a creative writer.” Now that I have moved to a small town in Insert town here, this mightbe even more of an issue. Because even more people may not get my brand of humor. Other feedback that I have received, is that women are intimated to respond to posting like this. But more than anything I am looking to meet new friends and if something amazing happens that would be very cool. I have a really unique creative personality, I am a very low pressure guy, I too am looking for someone special. Thanks for taking the time to read. enjoy my posting

Here I go again with another dating fucking sucks post again…

I am now convinced every sick-mutherfucker on earth surfs the craigslist personals, I was hanging at a friends house and went to Craigslist on her computer (*not really being nosy)  and I could see that the singles area on Craigslist link has been visited. Then it hit me!!! Everyone in the world is a sick-fucker just like myself. Craigslist is how everyone meets, but no-one ever wants to admit-it, this is so fucking gross. By posting ourselves online we have all been reduced to lawn equipment.

I know normal people read these online dating listings also… Because I was normal once, I can remember about 15 years ago reading the newspaper at Mc Donald’s, while I am eating my Mc Pile of shit. I love the classified section, I’m not really sure what it is. But being a little older everything has changed, forget the stupid sports.I personally love to read the used cars, free pets, rideshare, missed connections… but my point is, even before abruptly becoming single again, I would read the singles thread on craigslist, what a fascinating category… Someone throwing caution to the wind, post a ad in hopes of landing a date, it seems so crazy when you think about it. But what is sad, from my limited dating experience it seems the older we get the less likely we are to really find someone normal.

The response I am trying to trigger is the “normal one” that is – perhaps a normal person surfing this and think to herself, …”is this fucking shit even real?” No, we have reduced ourselves to lawn equipment… 🙂

So how would I describe myself? Mr toad’s wild ride – white, 6”4’, fit, late 30’s I don’t fuck on the first night, that would be considered risky behavior. If my post shocks you, run away! I don’t want your acceptance, I want someone looking for something special, someone looking to uncover a true experience, someone unique. At first you might find I am hard to talk to, I am closed off and very shy when you first meet me.

Other fun-Facts about myself

  • I have all my teeth
  • good head of hair
  • I have blue eyes
  • I am tall
  • I am here in Insert town here, taking care of my 88 year old grandma
  • I dont own a TV, but I have 4 computers
  • I have written 3 books
  • I love love love animals and plants
  • you should not feed me milk
  • I don’t play video games

  • I have not had a job in 15 years
  • I have a criminal history  <-I’m proud of that
  • I am 40
  • My kids are over 18
  • I might cook you dinner, have some coffee, stay up till 4 am, and sleep all day.
  • I have 13 years of education, over and above high school.
  • I don’t drink, love a little pot
  • *se habla espanol, but I am not Mexican
  • I love to take baths, because I get dizzy when I jerk-off standing up
  • AND yes! I really make a living as a semi-well known writer, I’m not rich, but I am rich in spirit.

*The picture thing is so uncomfortable, now that I have moved to this small town in Insert town here, I can’t post a photo of myself because not only am I afraid of being recognized on the street, I am worried my friends will find it on craigslist and post my dating ad on facebook, then everyone will know I too am looking for new lawn equipment and this is already humiliating enough.

Just a fun fact: it seems nurses like to use the CL personal service.

If you don’t send a picture of yourself, I will not reply. If you don’t want to send a picture first, then get yourown posting. And besides, if you send me an email trying to bait me into talking to you without a pic, then that would mean you are getting what you want and I can’t allow that to happen.  🙂 If you have a comment, rude or nice I will always politely respond. Thank you for reading and have a safe journey in life

Make sure to get your full head in-front of the shotgun.. thank you for calling!

Craigslist recently implemented changes that prohibited you from directly getting the email address from a response.

Scott goes worldwide!

A new first for me, the other day I was approached by an India based web developmental company to make them a website layout. I have to be honest, at first I was a little thrown off by this offer. Because in my mind, India would be the ideal place to get a website developed! Then it hit me when he told me, “No good website designs come from India!” I am sure that is not true, but it made perfect sense, get an American to illustrate the website, and then have it coded in India. Even myself, a lot of times I will have the coding done in India to save time and money!

Examples of the WordPress themes I have designed for my clients:

*to see my full portfolio>> click here

With these .psd files you can make almost any type of website you want, websites are in-fact images.

This is how most people should go about doing a website in the first place. Buy the art work from an expert designer/illustrator to layout the website and you buy the PSD’s from him, then you can take the PSD’s to most anyone with basic CSS and slicing, and they can be turned into any type of website! PSD to WordPress Template for $99

Keywords: PSD, WordPress theme.

And the real up side of owning your own website theme is really that all the changes you make on the theme/website, you own them. Your not investing in a theme/layout, that you only may onwn some things.

My experience with WordPress Member – membership plugin

This is a 100% non-paid review for WordPress membership plugins. I had been working on some of my clients WordPress websites, and I purchased WordPress Member  plugin for the Authorize.net gateway.

The WordPress website was currently using WordPress’s eMember  plug-in and I was very impressed up to this point, but the client wanted to add Authorize.net payment gateway to their website. So we decided to switch to the WordPress Member plugin

So back to what happened, I was switching membership plugins from the WordPress eMember to the WordPress Member and I could not for the life of me get WordPress Member plugin working. The problem was that I was getting a white screen anytime I went to login to the WordPress CMS or update the changes I made to the plugin or refresh the page. And the way WordPress Member plugin was made, there was nothing I could even do to troubleshoot the problem – the WP Member plugin code was encrypted.

The other thing I didn’t particularly care for was the poor technical support offered for the WP Member plugin. From what I could tell, WP-Member was trying to charge for support of their own plugin, which in my opinion was just crazy.

The price for the plugin was $29.99, I am not sure it was worth much more than that.

Most of the support I found for the WordPress Member white screen issue was online and was telling me to deactivate plugins one-by-one in an attempt to find the problem plugin. But the problem plugin was in fact the WordPress Member membership plugin. My guess was the WordPress Member worked poorly in a shared hosting environment or I could of had some theme conflicts. But one thing is for-sure, once I got rid of the WP Member plugin, my problem was gone.

The WordPress Member plugin was crap. I never got the plugin working, so we just decided to stay with the eMember plugin. I have yet to get a reply from the developer or technical support on the “white screen” issues I was having. The good news is my client is going to stay with WordPress eMember, and add the Authorize.net WordPress plugin.

I found a solution for membership websites looking to easily add the Authorize.net payment gateway to their membership website, check it out http://www.danielwatrous.com/authorizenet-for-wordpress

How to do it yourself reputation defender

I make a living on the web, doing web design and search engine optimization. You don’t have to hire a Reputation Defender or anyone for that matter to defend your reputation online. I will give you some simple tips and talk about what happens when someone talk negative about you online. I am sure this post will be updated many times over the next few months.

According to research – the average person who has a bad-service experience tells at least nine others about it and 13% of complaints relate their experience to more than 20 other people. In comparison, people who receive silent service only tell three or four others about it. These days on the World Wide Web a negative comment posted on Facebook for example can reach thousands of people in a very short amount of time.

So what does a “Reputation Defender” do?

Well simply put – They add positive content to drown out the negative or offending content or post. So when people search for information about your company, they will only find good comments. Most people are not sure how to find negative information about you or your company. And as it turns-out, most people don’t look that hard. As silly as it sounds, most people don’t look past the first few pages.

SEO expert or “Reputation Defender”

These are basically the same thing; a “Reputation Defender” is just a SEO expert that is adding search friendly content that people can easily find verses the negative content posted about you.

By taking good comments posted about you or your company around the web, and re-posting them.

Is all negative information bad?

No – In fact depending how it was posted or where it was posted, it maybe even good or helping you. Business rating websites like Angie’s List, are big business! People do read. But – depending on the type of comment or post, believe it or not this could be helping your websites page rank!

Negative posts on the web are most damaging to smaller companies and individuals, than the larger companies. Companies like Wal-Mart and Home Depot have thousands of comments good and bad posted all over the web.

How to get a negative post written about you or your company removed from a blog?

First thing to keep in mind not all bad things posted about you or your company is bad. The other thing to keep in mind, some websites will-not remove your negative comment. But here are some simple tips that may help.

1.) Ask the website or blog owner to have it removed.

2.) Send a demand letter – It may be worth your time to spend a 100 bucks or so having an attorney draft a letter to scare them into removing the offending content. But it is important to point out, this really is a empty threat.

3.) Fix it! If you think about the effects of a negative or damaging post about you or your company live for life for everyone to read, you may want to extend some type of concession to settle the matter for removal of the post.

Getting a removed from Ripoff Report

Some Reputation Defenders services say they can remove you, but for the most part this is simply untrue.

If you are looking to get off Ripoff Report the best help I can give you is to have you – read this here

Personal Reputation Defender Tips

1.) Buy your own Domain Name – And you can post whatever you want people to read about you. The search engine will give preference to the keywords used in the search. Just a side note to this, you should own you’re the domain name of your name.

If you are looking to block potential problems in the future, you may want to buy domains like “yourcompanynamesuck.com”

Company Reputation Defender Tips

It is best to lay the framework to proactively defend negative post and info about your company

1.) Start a “Like” page

2.) Do your best to resolve customer complaints.

3.) Make it easy for customers to complain to you, not on the web.

So what do you do?

It is best  to do nothing. People are going to do whatever they want, so sit back and embrace the horror.

On a personal note: I know things posted about you or your company feels insulting and hard for you to get over. But the bottom line is, who really cares. You haven’t made it on the web till someone hates you, and only you can give life to these comments or post about you or your company and if you’re looking for an upside to all this, in 100 years who’s going to fucking care anyway. Personally I would give my right-arm for someone to post some negative shit about me. So knock yourself out.

Things Scott has complained about.

Why do I write about the negative experiences I have with companies?

I think it is important for people to get good information about the company they are dealing with. These days your money is really important, and businesses are becoming less consumer friendly an some are just talking advantage and misleading people. This make me mad.

Want to complain?

The best way to complain has got to be Twitter.

What is REALLY happening on Associated Content (AC)?

Scott, I saw your article about relaxation on Associated Content (AC) and I read a little about writing for AC.  It looks like a fair opportunity to make money working at home.  What kind of money do you think I could make writing a few good articles a week?

Thanks,
Paul B., Minn.

Thanks for writing Paul.  I have written a few articles for AC and found them to be prompt in paying.  If you submit your content requesting an up-front payment, they review your piece and make you an offer within a week or so.  I haven’t been offered anything staggering for any piece, about $3 per article.  I made more money selling one item from the last storage unit auction I bought at but hey, it’s all about multiple streams of income, right?  One of the things I occasionally do to put things in perspective is to ask myself, what is really going on here.  It forces you to peel through multiple layers of reality.  To answer your question, I asked myself, “What is REALLY going on at Associated Content?”  Let’s look at it together.

Here’s Associated Content‘s vital statistics:

Associated Content, Inc. is a privately held Delaware Corporation.  This is only significant in that AC does not have any public reporting requirements as publicly traded corporations do.  Read – they do not have to publicly state their income – no biggie, right?  What they earn is their business.   According to Silicone Alley Insider, it is estimated at a value of $65 million.   The Associated Content site has a traffic ranking of 773 according to Alexa – compare eHow at 476.

According to AC,

  • Associated Content publishes authentic, useful and informative content on nearly every conceivable topic, produced by real people sharing real-world expertise from diverse perspectives.

Anyone who knows anything about the internet knows that “Content is King,” and AC has an army of Content Producers (CPs) constantly churning out articles on just about any subject or topic imaginable.  The site is covered in advertising links which generate impressions and clicks leading to advertising revenue.  I suppose it is remarkable that they pay writers anything since it seems people will submit content to many popular websites that don’t pay anything.  And this formula works – the payments keep many people actively creating content which draws search engine, direct and organic traffic to the site.

I didn’t start writing on AC to make money – I can make more money in a weekend selling goods than in a whole year of writing for AC – I wanted to promote my website.   AC allows you to put your website after the article, which I thought was great as I would be in essence, backlinking from AC to scottrasher.com – which could only improve my website’s search engine ranking.  I discovered today that this is not the case.

I went straight to the source code of one of my article pages.  Here is a snipet of code relating to my website:

[<li><a rel=“nofollow” href=“http://scottrasher.com” class=“link_383838”>scottrasher.com</a></li>]

No follow?  Apparently, AC does not want search engine robots to not follow the link.  So the only benefit of having the link is if someone reads the article and follows it – which is a potential although my stats don’t show any referrals from AC.  My website isn’t getting any search engine benefit from AC links.

Another thing I realized today is that I’m on my own promoting this content.  I’ve never seen it show up anywhere on the site. A google search of Associated Content revealed this discussion which you might be interested in reading.

It’s interesting to read through the disclaimers/terms of use you agree to when you sign up at AC.  You get paid for the page views where an advertisement impression occurs.  Here’s what AC says about that, “*Page View. means one view of a single page of Content on the Site containing an advertising impression. AC shall in its sole discretion determine the type, frequency, and category of advertising impressions served on the Site in general and any content page in particular.” and “3. Your Acknowledgments. You acknowledge that:

a. You understand that the data presented in the Beta Program may not be accurate, and that you will not rely on those numbers in any way“(emphasis added).”

I guess the lawyer in me just can’t help but be fascinated with the disclaimers we accept without even reading.

Paul, it seems there’s a little bit of money to be made but if I were you I’d get a hundred monkeys to each type ten articles a day and submit it to AC, then you could really make some dough.   It’s all a numbers game really.

Good luck!

How to Write a Good Internet Article

How to Write a Good Internet Article

There are many reasons you might want to write a good internet article. You need good web content, you are writing for an employer or you write freelance internet articles. Since content is still King, skills in writing good internet articles are a premium.

First, let’s distinguish between an internet article and a blog post. Let’s create definitions.

A blog post is any combination of image and/or text that is uploaded to a weblog and cataloged by date, category, tag or other fashion. A blog post may be personal, random, from an RSS feed, humorous, boring, nonsensical, blasphemous, heretical or otherwise. A blog post can, but is not always an internet article.

An internet article is typically a well written (although I’ve seen many claiming to be an internet article that was not well written), keyword rich essay on a specific topic, intended to inform and entertain readers seeking information on that topic. The hallmark of a good internet article is a logical structure that leads the reader to accept the conclusion the writer proposed. It should be persuasive.

Like any style of writing, there are forms which can be practiced and with continued use, will lead to better results. During law school, I learned a form of persuasive writing which I have adapted to writing internet articles. Here’s my formula:

1. Issue
What are you writing about? Why should the reader care? This requires a clear and concise statement.

2. Research
What have you discovered about the topic? You need to state what you’ve found and imply or state your qualifications to write about the subject. Nobody cares about your brother’s opinion on whether we landed on the moon in 1969. Why does your opinion matter to the reader?

3. Analysis
Here you begin to take the logical steps that will lead the reader to your proposed conclusion. You began with the conclusion in mind when you started or you wouldn’t be writing an internet article in the first place. Show the reader why she should believe in your conclusion.

4. Conclusion – you precisely restate the idea that you wanted the reader to accept – usually the title of your article.

You can observe the application of my internet article formula in this very article.

1. The title is a clear and concise statement of the topic – how to write an internet article.
2. I define what an internet article is, why the reader should care and what I know about the topic.
3. I offered the reader a theory – a rationale – a practice that can lead, in my opinion to the conclusion I propose which is how to write a better internet article.
4. The conclusion is following.

Writing in a form such as this maximizes your keyword density without sounding unnaturally repetitive. I’m sure you’ve seen articles where the use of key words seemed ridiculous and you probably concluded it was spam. A good internet article does not leave the greasy after taste associated with spam. Rather a good internet article leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling like perhaps the internet isn’t such a bad place after all. A good internet article reminds you why the internet was invented in the first place – to freely exchange ideas – not just to look at porn and sell hair growth products. Ironically, a good internet article will sell things but that’s not its true purpose. It should simply give the reader the answer to the question they were looking for when they searched for it and hopefully you didn’t bore them away from your website.

Writing a good internet article is easy when you have a good idea and a form to follow. I hope this internet article is of assistance to you in your internet article writing endeavors.

That was the conclusion to the article but you’ll want to see my next free internet article where we dissect the keyword density of this very article. Stay tuned!

As always, our free internet articles are open for you to put on your website. Customize, quote or just copy and paste them but don’t forget to link back. Good luck driving massive traffic to your website.

Implications of Google Real-Time Search

Anyone who’s been trying to keep up with how search engine users find internet content had to be blown away by the announcement of Google’s Real-Time search function.

Today a representative of Google stated, “relevance has become the critical factor.” My question is what was it before? It’s always been relevance that Google used to index the internet, right? Well, relevance and a website’s ranking according to a super top secret formula creating an entire industry attempting to “crack the code” as it were.

Assume for a second that it is even possible for any search engine to be able to spider the entire internet on a real time basis. If that is true then anyone with a blog has the possibility of thousands of views from a speedy post about a current trend. In the past, trending can give even a poorly Google ranked blog a shot at some internet traffic. If you were willing to get up early and hit Google/trends you could often predict something that would peak later in the day and an early morning blog post might show up by the time it peaked. When I wrote for paying article sites, they tended to rank higher and would receive more traffic than my blog posts with the same keywords.

Google Real-Time, according to Google will provide real time information from tweets, blog posts and sources like MySpace and Facebook. I guess I missed something but aren’t tweets usually just spam? Why would anyone searching for “relevant” information want to see what Bobby Joe in Tucson thinks about Tiger Woods affair and bothered to tweet or post on his MySpace page? In order to actually be in “real time” Google must be tapping into various RSS feeds to collect this information. I cannot see how the information could come in real time from spiders. But then again I’m not an engineer – I’m just a speculator. For Google’s real time searching, are there sites favored over others? This I will like to see.

While my mind is still boggled by the full array of implications raised by this search function, I think it could actually benefit bloggers and article writers willing to work fast and hone their trend prediction skills. I guess we’ll see.

How to get the most from your freelancer / Webmaster.

I feel most people looking to build a website are really up against it. On the other hand – It is difficult being a freelancer. I have made my living on the web for many years now…. and I made this post to help everyday laymen get the most from hiring a web developer or freelancer to do their website, or any work for that matter. I am sure I will rewrite this post and add to it for many more years.

First of all let me say that good web-developers are visionary’s and have put in years or work to develop their skills. Good webmasters are usually artist that are very talented and have a good eye. I think this post will helpful to webmasters also.

What to think about when hiring a Webmaster
1.) You are hiring an artist – Have some stuff written down, if you want your artist to see your vision of what you want, then take some time to explain what you want in a summery outlined with examples.

2.) You want your website to look nice? Then you are not looking for a highly technical web master, you are looking for an artist. An artist that will most likely be into Photoshop, there is a differences between a designer and a Web Master.

3.) Have a hard time getting what you want? When looking at a Webmasters work you can clearly see what you are going to get! Most Designers and Webmasters have tools and techniques that are “goto” tools for a designer, so what you see is what you get.

Tips for keeping the price low.
1.) Be flexible – More changes means more money. Think in terms of white and simple. Think of it this way, eBay is not the same website it once was. Look around at the top sites, all white.

2.) Get something you can update – Find something you can update and be proactive.
Millions have been spent in terms of trying to figure out what keeps the reader engaged and clicking. It at all amounts to simple and white. If you are looking to get the most from your website then WRITE!!

Tips for getting the best website
1.)Add fucking content. Sometimes it shocks people when I tell them they have to write something down. I can’t tell you have many people I work with everyday have nothing even written down about their website. Don’t even know their passwords, make notes, checkout other websites, the more details the better.

For the best results – Get your artwork from a Designer, then hire a programmer.
